As furniture and home goods begin arriving for the cottages where our Starlight moms and their children will soon live, spring is bursting around campus. It feels as though winter has lingered well past its welcome and with the signs of warmer weather comes the excitement for new life. This life is evident in the blossoming azalea bushes, the trees that are springing forth new leaves, and the sounds of birds chirping.
The squeals of joy and excitement from the little people climbing around the playground areas surrounding our Early Learning Center remind us of the lives to which we have dedicated our programs and services. Instilling a love of lifelong learning at a very young age is what we do, and we do it well.
The students enrolled in the afterschool program jump off the buses with the knowledge that a healthy afternoon snack awaits them, along with staff and tutors who will anxiously welcome them to campus for afternoon fun and to help them achieve academic success. Assisting students as they face educational challenges and creating a sense of good citizenship is what we do, and we do it well.
Soon we will be welcoming moms and their children to our Starlight program. We help recovery moms heal from past choices and recover from experiences that were harmful to them and to their efforts to create a loving, healthy, supportive family environment for their children. We will do this through the Starlight program, and we will do it well.
As we continue to structure programs designed to building a stronger community, we invite you to get involved. Volunteer in any our programs, support us financially, and if you know of moms with small children who would benefit from our 24 month recovery program, invite them to visit our website to learn more. Applications for the program are available there or by calling 864.944.1390. Building a stronger community is what we do, and we do it well.
The community is invited to the spring events that we have planned for April and May. On Saturday, April 9th from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. we will be hosting our 2nd Weddings at Tamassee Open House. Visit our indoor and outdoor venues, chat with preferred vendors, and tour the grounds. We want to make your wedding dreams come true. RSVP at Eventbrite.com or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Good Friday is April 15th and our CEO, Rev. Jon Holland is officiating Stations of the Cross. Join us as we make the spiritual pilgrimage along the numbered path, stopping at each station for selected prayers and reflections. This procession is done in a spirit of reparation for the suffering and insults that Jesus endured during his passion. A service will be conducted at 12 noon and another one at 6 p.m. Please join us for whichever one is most convenient for you.
