Tamassee DAR School is Ready to Serve

Jan. 13, 2017

Jen was the cutest little girl, and so sweet! However, over the past year or so her parents noticed that her grades had started to drop. Then came the constant attitude, and the lies, the lack of motivation… yet Jen would even agree she could do better. Jen had recently lost a loved one and was quite shaken by a car accident. She seemed to bottle her feelings up inside. Mom and Dad took Jen to counseling, but it didn’t seem to get any better. In fact, it only seemed to be getting worse as time went on. Mom and Dad started thinking this might be more than normal teenage behavior, and not sure what to do anymore to help Jen.

Lacy and her three siblings have been living with Grandma for a couple months now, ever since they had to leave their mom’s house. Grandma has noticed that the oldest children have never quite opened up about what happened in those times…and Grandma is pretty sure that there were some bad things that happened. She just doesn’t know what to do to help the kids! Not only that, the financial and physical burden of raising the four children is taking a serious toll on Grandma. She loves them and wants to help, but is struggling to meet their needs and give them the life they deserve.

John is a bright student and has always done well in school. However, ever since his mom and dad got a divorce and mom had to go to work on second shift his grades have been slipping. There are also the reports from school about him cutting out early. His mom doesn’t know what to do. She has to continue working to make ends meet and no matter how hard she tries, she can’t seem to find work during school hours. She also knows that John needs more structure at home, someone to ensure his homework is completed, that he’s not running around with those much older kids in the neighborhood, and that she would love it if he could have a hot nutritious meal for dinner every night.
