We are half way through our 100th Anniversary year, and the celebrations continue. The birthday party celebration to mark the first day of school for n0n-residential students on February 24, 1919 was held with our current residential students a few months ago. The second of three celebrations marking our centennial will be held next month.
Plans are currently being made for a grand celebration here on Tamassee campus on July 27th from 2 p.m. – 6 p.m. This will be a time for us to say “thank you” to the surrounding communities who have blessed us with their support for 100 years. Every day we are aware of the gifts you have provided through your churches, civic organizations, businesses, and individuals – the list goes on and on of those who have provided their time, effort, and resources to allow Tamassee to serve children and families in need.
We invite you to come and enjoy a day on campus, which will include free lunch, local artisans, displays, dance groups, games, crafts, music, and more. The opening ceremony will be held in our chapel with special guest speakers: Senator Thomas Alexander, Representative Bill Whitmire, Salem Mayor Lynn Towe and Tamassee CEO Lori Bailey. All have a Tamassee connection and a story to tell. There will be hourly door prize drawings which will culminate during the closing ceremony with the grand prize drawing of a $100 gift certificate to the Tamassee DAR School Thrift Store. Throughout the day, the Thrift Store will be open and participating by offering special sales events.
We hope you will plan to join us, and let us say “thank you” in a very special way for all of the very special ways you have helped Tamassee change lives for the past 100 years.
As we continue commemorating our past, we are also focusing on the future. Join us as we celebrate our past and embrace our future with our Star Campaign. As a part of our Centennial Celebration, we are creating a wall dedicated to sharing the light of our brightest stars, donors like you.
Tamassee DAR School partners with children and families to overcome life’s obstacles through campus and community based programs that nurture loving homes, inspire wholeness, expand educational horizons, and train exceptional citizens. As they have for the past 100 years, each day our children reach for the stars, and through your gift, they will have the opportunity to grasp them.
Tamassee stars are a great way to honor family members, friends, and colleagues; memorialize a loved one; encourage your favorite Tamassee DAR school student(s) or alum; or show your family’s appreciation for Tamassee while leaving a lasting tribute in your name. To see how you can provide a lasting tribute and support that carries us into the future, visit our website at www.tdarschool.org or phone the Development Office at 864.944.1390 extension 108.
