Carrying the Mission Forward

Apr. 30, 2021

Tamassee DAR School loves children and families.  The campus, also known as the Place of the Sunlight of God, was founded over 102 years ago to help children build brighter futures through the power of education.   Through the years Tamassee has seen hundreds of children, staff, board members, volunteers and leaders come and go.  Amazingly, the dedication to the original mission has remained the same – the empowerment of children and families to build brighter futures for themselves.

During the last school year our Afterschool program has helped elementary and middle school students successfully achieve, maintain, and in many cases, exceed their academic goals.  The enrolled students continued to progress even through the negative impacts associated with the safety mandates of Covid 19.  Our families were able to depend on the Afterschool program to provide dependable internet access and tech savvy staff during E-Learning Days. Our teachers, volunteers, staff and tutors were dedicated to the daily completion of homework and individual reading time every day.

As the end of our first Afterschool Program approaches, it is with a feeling of accomplishment that our teachers look back at the past school year.  Our annual Awards Day ceremony will be a celebration of the resolve and the determination each student has shown to end their academic year successfully.   It will also be an acknowledgement of the dedication displayed by everyone who helped these precious students through a trying school year.   We appreciate your support and hope you will join again in the fall for the next school year.

As the Afterschool Program winds down, we are gearing up for the action packed Summer Day Camp Program which begins on June 14 and runs for the next nine weeks.   Each week campers will participate in a variety of activities and games related to the designated theme.  The weekly fee is $100 and scholarships are available for qualifying families. Arrangements are currently being made for a daily centralized pick-up and drop-off in Seneca and Walhalla for added convenience for families who wish to enroll.  For more information, call Mr. Tyler at 864.3944.3022 ext. 114.
