Tamassee DAR School Interim CEO Jon Holland has announced the 2020 expansion of the Tamassee Academy program. Partnering with Tri County Technical College (TCTC), the Oconee County Public School System, and local industries, Tamassee is excited to provide a program for at risk students which culminates in the successful completion of a high school diploma or GED, and an industrial certificate.
The aerospace and manufacturing companies in South Carolina are experiencing a growing demand for qualified workers and Tamassee will be working closely with them to fill that need with graduates of their expanded Academy.
For 100 years Tamassee DAR School has been devoted to changing lives of students through the power of education. Entering their 2nd century of service, Tamassee is excited about helping youth rise above the bonds that have sustained and crippled so many young people in the past. Perhaps you know of a teen who is searching for a way to break the cycle of poverty, abuse, homelessness, neglect, or other situations that limit their ability to dream of a brighter future. The Academy Expansion Program provides hope to struggling students. Youth enrolled in the program will receive the support that is necessary to successfully finish high school, and obtain a certificate in a manufacturing trade such as welding, CNC, or robotics, etc. Industrial skills that are desperately needed by the manufacturing and aerospace industries in South Carolina. Imagine graduating high school and stepping into a manufacturing position at $30,000 – $40,000 per year.
While enrolled in the program, students can opt to live on campus in the safe and secure environment of one of our residential cottages, or they can remain in their home and travel to campus daily for their classes. For students living on campus food, shelter, and necessary transportation will be provided.
Since its founding in 1919, Tamassee has been passionate about empowering underprivileged youth to flip the script in their lives. This program offers students an achievable dream of completing their high school education, of jobs that provide financial security and independence, of becoming the kind of citizens that make our communities strong and our nation great.
Don’t wait! Spread the word and encourage the youth you know to get the facts today to begin building a brighter tomorrow. To learn more about enrolling in the Tamassee Academy Expansion Program, please call the school at 864.944.1390.
