Tamassee Selected as a 2009 Foothills Gala Receipent

Three Upstate charities were the beneficiaries of three $10,000 donations made possible by the eighth annual Foothills Gala held recently at The Hilton Garden Inn.

The black tie event was attended by approximately 300 people from the local area and featured live music, both silent and live auctions, a gourmet dinner and the presentation of checks to the charities.

Each year the Gala benefits local charities from Anderson, Oconee and Pickens counties that are not aligned with a national organization, or whose needs are not being met by other sources within their communities.

This year the Gala presented $10,000 checks to each of the following charities: SHINE (Stopping Hunger in Nearby Easley) of Pickens County, Tamassee DAR School of Oconee County and Camp Providence of Anderson County.

The event was founded by Trehel Corporation’s Chairman Neal Workman and DP3 President Mark Eggl, and is directed each year by an experienced board of directors, consisting of representatives from each county and a volunteer Steering Committee.

This year’s Gala executive director was Judith Witthoeft.
