Admissions
Whether it is a family illness or conflict, school difficulties, financial issues or marital problems, the professional and caring staff of Tamassee DAR School is ready to help families in need. The primary goal of care for every child is to improve communication, trust and understanding within the family. There is a bond between family and child that transcends physical separation. And, as difficult as it is to imagine, placing a child away from home is often the only way to strengthen that bond. This is the first step toward a much brighter future that can bring healthy and significant relationships, enriching educational experiences, renewed confidence and self-esteem and a deeper understanding of our unique relationship with God.
At Tamassee DAR School, care begins immediately upon enrollment. Skilled Case Managers and child care staff attempt to relate to children with love and compassion, provide a supportive living environment, and teach children positive ways to deal with their emotions, feelings, and thoughts.
Admissions Process
Families may receive services by calling Tamassee DAR School directly, or though referrals from ministers, counselors, social workers or psychologists familiar with the family's situation. When an inquiry is made and a brief description of the family's situation is provided, an application packet and additional information about Tamassee are mailed to the family. Once Tamassee DAR School receives the application, the materials are reviewed to determine which service is appropriate for the student and an interview is scheduled with the family. If Tamassee DAR School is unable to assist the family with placement or service, efforts are made to refer the family to other sources of potential help.
